In this era where we always want to have “3 steps to…”, “7ways to…”, “10 Steps to…”, I think it is called the fast-something generation. We have fast cars, fast food, super fast rockets, super fast internet, and even fast marriages!

Now, there really isn’t any “fast way” to get heaven or that kinda thing,

though getting into heaven is quite simple-by giving your life to Christ-but  I want to show you just three things that the whole bulk of the scriptures seem to be summarized into, and that’s what I want to show to you.

Remember the song from children church days?

“Read your bible, pray everyday

Pray everyday, pray everyday

Read your bible, pray everyday

If you want to grow.

If you want to grow, if you want to gro..oo..oo..ow

Read your bible, pray everyday

If you want to grow.”

Pay a little more attention to the lyrics of the song and you’ll discover atleast 2 of these things.

  1. Read Your Bible:

This is as cliché as it comes but be sure that it is the truth. The bible is God’s word to us, in it we find life. In it we receive direction, correction, encouragement and a whole lot of other life giving things.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness…”

It is the compass to help you navigate this earth, if you plan to survive. The word of God is your sword! It is your defence and offence weapon!

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” Hebrews 4:10

  1. Pray:

Its important that a child converses with his father, and that’s what prayer is for us. Its our medium of having a conversation with God. It is through prayers that we establish our relationship with the Father. It is through prayers that we gain insights beyond our capacity.

It is through prayer that we are able to access the revelation knowledge that we have access to in this word as opposed to living in the knowledge based on only the things that you connect with based on seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting or smelling. Praying isn’t some chore we do to  appease God, it is how we love on our Father.

Giving your life to Christ establishes a relationship, communicating is what establishes a fellowship.

This communication is prayer.

  1. Repeat:

The next thing to do is to repeat the process. Do it again. Read your bible, pray and do it again…

We will consider the remaining two in the next post. Can you put that to practice and let see how your relationship with Christ soars!
